Bundaberg Library / East Bundaberg Rotary Book Sale
This project started in 2008, and is already one of the Club’s most visible projects in the community. In conjunction with the Bundaberg Regional Library Service, Club Members transport and store thousands of items, then help set up and sell everything from books to DVDS to jigsaw puzzles.
The next book sale will be held in July 2016 at the Bundaberg Civic Centre.
Donations of items can be delivered year round to the Bundaberg Regional Library, 49 Woondooma Street, during business hours.
The first Rotary Calender was published in 2008, with 13 photos of the Bundaberg region. Photographers from the local Club submitted their favourite photos, with the final photos being chosen by the Club for inclusion in the calendar.
The Calendar is sold each year from August until November, or until stocks run out. In 2013, to commemorate both the 100th year of Bundaberg as a city, and our club's 50th Anniversary, a special calendar with historical photos of Bundaberg was produced.
East Rotary Park, Kendall's Flats
East Rotary Park was extensively damaged during the 2010 floods in Bundaberg, so our club decided to begin a process of renovating the park in 2011. The park has great significance for us, as our first Community Service project as a newly formed Rotary Club.
Our club, with the assistance of Flood funds from D9570, Hall RC, ACT and Latrobe RC, has replaced softfall, arranged for the park rides to be repainted and serviced, and had the water fountain replaced. The old rusty sign was removed in February 2012, to make way for 2 new heritage markers which detail both the history of the Park, and the history of the Kendall family, early pioneers in Bundaberg.
